Our focus is local project development and consortium participation in Uganda, bringing together experienced transmission developers, engineering contractors, technology providers and prospective financiers.
Our focus / Electricity infrastructure
We pursue defined development, supply and delivery roles across new transmission infrastructure and upgrades to existing networks. Regional interconnection opportunities are assessed against country requirements and project readiness.
High-voltage overhead lines, network extensions and generation-evacuation connections, developed with experienced engineering and construction partners.
New substations, transformer capacity, switchgear, protection and control systems, and upgrades that improve network capacity and reliability.
Project origination and local development partnerships for privately financed transmission infrastructure, including concession and transmission services opportunities.
Metering, communications, remote monitoring and maintenance planning, with inspection and asset integrity coordinated through Honest Inspection Services and qualified electrical specialists.
Development partnerships
Smart Grid seeks participation in Independent Power Transmission projects, public-private partnerships and concession opportunities through the applicable procurement and regulatory processes. Each opportunity starts with a defined network requirement and an agreed development role.
Review network needs, generation connections and industrial demand with utilities, project sponsors and technical partners.
Coordinate feasibility, grid studies, environmental and social assessments, wayleave planning and the proposed delivery model.
Build an experienced consortium and assess project costs, transmission services terms, payment security and financing requirements.
Plan procurement, construction, commissioning and long-term asset support with qualified contractors and specialist service partners.
Projects advance subject to feasibility, procurement, regulatory licensing, environmental and social approvals, land and wayleave arrangements, signed agreements and financing. Uganda's Electricity (Independent Power Transmission) Regulations, 2023 form part of the investment framework. View ERA's regulatory instruments
